250 words before breakfast, 100 words before I can check e-mails, 200 more words before I get a tea break, 75 really good words and I can play with my dog … my life is made up of titillating text and worrisome word counts these days.

When my mind drifts it’s because I am calculating something like ‘if cook a decent dinner tonight and I make enough for two nights will the time it saves me tomorrow be equal to the 300 words l will lose by actually cooking real food?’

Before I hurry back to TMP (The Mystery Project), I wanted to share the delights of
Southern California Gardens. I'd kill to grow my own artichokes on the deck. And the last time my bougainvillea flowered was when I bought it to use in a photo shoot five years ago! My Mexican sage, however, looked as spunky this summer.
Since California has strict water conservation laws, cactus and other succulents are very popular.

I was fascinated by this garden fence. Turned out the long curved parts were metal rods and the vertical supports were real twigs. What will they think of next?

I love the contrast of the yellow flowers against the mural on the grocery store wall in the background.

With the leaves rapidly changing colors and falling to the ground here in northern Virginia, these semi-tropical beauties seem worlds away.
