ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Hi folks
The reason I haven’t posted recently is that I had half dozen writing assignments to finish by today. And this morning, renovation work begins at my house. All of the floors are being refinished.
I've been crazed here getting ready for a crew. It's like moving! My entire life is stuffed into closets or packed in the garage, porch, and car.
Later today, my family is taking to the road like a band of gypsies. Instead of a goat, however, we have a large golden retriever in tow.
I‘ve packed a "day" bag for me to take to my "safe haven”, (with work stuff, magazines to read and knitting) and an overnite bag in case the dog and I can't sleep at the house. There's also the dog's mat, treats and a tote filled with plastic Baggies filled with pre-measured dog food in case we need to spend the night elsewhere.
I’ve hauled a week's worth of clothes and exercise gear downstairs to my mom's apartment. Even if I can't stay there I'll be able to go in her back door and fetch the stuff .
Then, there's a big box to put in the car (cell phone and other chargers, mud boots and winter gear – and more dog food --just in case the weather gets bad.
My mom is moving in with a friend and EV is heading for a hotel. His allergies are too bad for him to sleep in a house where work is in progress.
I'm used to being a gypsy, but at the moment I'm a tired gypsy.
I won’t have internet access until we move back in. I’ll try to get a table at Starbucks so I can post your comments and check on how everyone else is doing in Bloglandia.
As we say in Romani, the gyspy language, Achen Devlesa (see you again soon!)

So much hassle!!
So much organisation just to get the floors done!!!
Think how lovely the refinished floors will look.
Alison
Barbara you poor girl!!
But you must think of the results of your hardship.. New floors....
Our's have to be done again as well, but we will wait until we can throw the doors open and get them dry fast. It's still very cold here and we had about 8 more inches of snow yesterday....
Looking forward to Spring!
Hope you have some fun free time after your deadlines etc.
Hugs,
Jan
Good luck with living like a gypsy for a while. I think it's pretty tough living out of a suitcase for any amount of time.
Just keep thinking about how beautiful your floors will look when you get home. That will get you through it.
I hope you post some pictures of the finished job.
wow you sound like me... I pack a lot of "in case" things... in case the weather is bad... in case we get stranded... in case there is no bathroom facilities if we do get stranded... etc etc etc... better to be prepared than not....
Any kind of upheaval can wreak havoc on the nerves... so I hope you get a chance to knit and read...
I imagine once it's over you will be happy you had it done
Much luck
HUGS

Hi Barbara,
Have fun! Wow the floors, that's a huge job! Enjoy being a gypsy for a while, even if you are a tired one, lol!
Your floors are going to be gorgeous! I love wood floors!
Pat
This is the reason that I want to buy laminate flooring... the kind with a 30 year warranty. :) Wood is so much prettier, but ugh all that work. Good luck with the floors.
Oh my, I feel for you! good luck with your travels.
Ooo wow , I'm sure it'll all be worth it once the floors are done...in the meanwhile try to take in the gypsy sort of life with a smile hehhehe :)
see you soon..
Hi Barbara! We miss you here in blogland!!! Of course we do! Those new wooden floors will be so lovely though! It's pretty outside here today and I'm loving it. xo Brook
You'll love it when it is finished, but no one truly relates to the fact that you have to "move out" to refinish the floors, unless they've lived through it!! Enjoy.
I hope all the renovations go smoothly. Its so hard to try and work when you're displaced.
It will all be worth it when you see your beautiful floors.
Kimberly :)
Big jobs on the house I know too well in the past. Oh so nice when they are finished.I guess we will see the finished effect eventually.
In the meantime hope you get some rest from that busy soundign schedule.
Hi Barbara,
I hope the renovations are going well and nearly all done...it can be so stressful that is for sure but well worth it in the end :)
Talk soon xo
Certainly sounds like exciting times albeit with a fair amount of trouble tossed in. The new floors will be worth it and I can hardly wait to see what you'll have to share with us on the other side. Hurry back!
That doesn't sound like fun. Very much like moving! But how great to move back in to beautiful floors!
