BACK AT THE SHORE

Grab your suntan lotion. It’s finally time to head to the beach.

Gibbs Smith, the publisher of my Coastal Waterside Cottage book, e-mailed me their edited version of my copy yesterday.
To get in a coastal cottage mood, I thought I’d share photos of Habersham’s new Grand Cottage collection. It features hand-distressed woods, a breezy color palette of soft whites, interesting textures that add up to comfortable coastal chic style.

It's too new to be on their website, but you should visit anyway. There are lots of other great coastal pieces you won't want to miss.
Now, 8 months after I handed the copy in, it’s time for me to reread it and answer dozens of AQs (author queries) about specific things.

AQ: What brand is the paint?
AQ: Is “at” capitalized in the painting’s title?
AQ: Please verify spelling of shell names.

My comments and changes are due in two weeks. I also need to deal with the captions, and re-check all of the websites and phone numbers in the resource guide. Yikes!

The editor’s and proofreader’s changes were tracked, and at first my computer wouldn’t show the changes. The problem turned out to be that my version of Word and GS’s version of Word didn’t work well together. But I got it to work (with a little help from my computer guru.)
Most of the copyeditor's changes involve semi-colons, verb tenses, and words, which need hyphenating.

Make that: Most of the changes involve semi-colons; verb tenses; and words that need hyphenating.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend. I'm off to Atlanta for my cousin's wedding.

Wow the Habersham’s collection looks wonderful!

I can't imagine how hard and time consuming it would be to write a book, with all the editing and processes involved. Are you completely 'over it' by the time the book comes out?!
