WATERSIDE COTTAGES

That magical moment is here! Dan and I have received layout pages of Waterside Cottages.

All of a sudden, months of photographing, photo editing, writing, and text editing have come together into pages that resemble a marvelous book. It's a book I'd run out and buy!

This week I will proofread the layouts for errors, answer a few author queries, and check captions carefully.
Some captions were matched to the wrong photo; others talk about a terrific ceiling fan or interesting floor choice that no longer shows because of the way photos were cropped, and need to be re-written.

But all in all, the book looks great.

And I couldn't agree more with my editor at Gibbs Smith who says, "I think the design turned out well--it's very pretty, but also fun and playful, like the houses in the book."

We're still several months away from seeing bound copies, but I can't wait to say thank you to all of you who have been involved in the creation of this book.

Meanwhile, I'd like top share one of my favorite summer secrets-- Chella fabrics.

The result of state-of-the-art weaving and finishing techniques, Chella textiles cost a little more than other weather-resistant fabrics but they feel as soft as natural cotton and are guaranteed against sun damage and fading for at least three years. As you can see from the photos that accompany this post, Chella fabrics come in a variety of styles and are extremely versatile.

Even Max approves!

How could the book be anything but BEAUTIFUL and INTERESTING? You wrote it and Dan photographed it. A magic combination!
Must have a copy autographed by the two of you. And this calls for a celebration. Champagne in Provence or Mojitos in New York? You pick!

Hi Barb,

Well let's put it this way. I have been out weeding for two days. I'm completely exhausted. They are easy to find though, they are bigger than my plants! lol

Can't wait to see your new book!

Hi Barbara, congratulations...I cannot wait to see the book when it is in stores. Sounds like a lot of work to go through and proof everything like that. It certainly would be for me as I'm not the greatest speller in the world. : ) Enjoy this time, congratulations.

Thanks for the funny comment on my blog about my in sane schedule..and yes - sometimes it is! Humm what is my secret you ask..?? Well, I work Full Time but when it is slow, I write articles for Saddle and Bridle magazine (www.saddleandbridle.com) instead of playing solitare or reading a book...as most others do here. I work M-F, but the horse shows that I cover are usually on the weekends. It also helps that slow season at work is show season for horses in our area and vice versa!

As for the blogs - 1 is just for my horse show customers to see photos I took at the show...just a gift so to say... 1 is a collection of stories I wrote about my children as they grew up..which by the way I have not had time to add to in a couple of months...and the 3rd is the one I really enjoy..the Equus Villa one.

But the single largest reason I have so much time to do so much .....is..... I no longer have children living at home! YIPPIE!!! opps - I mean oh gosh..I miss them..
