OCEAN AUCTION

One of the perks of being a writer/editor is that I sometimes get invited to amazing press events. Today, I was invited to one that sounds fabulous AND it’s for a good cause.

The invite read: “Oceana to Host Exclusive Preview of Maritime Treasures at Christie’s New York

Please join us. Oceana, the largest international organization focused solely on protecting the world’s oceans, will host a reception and an exclusive preview of a maritime art exhibit at the world-class auction house, Christie’s NY.

The event will showcase items such as oil paintings, watercolors, prints, antique ship fittings, carvings, figureheads, instruments, models and ephemera.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit the ocean conservation efforts of Oceana.

Special appearances to by Oceana board member, Ted Danson, and Oceana Ocean Council Member, Sam Waterston.

Maritime art experts will be available for private tours with background information about each art piece along with a Q&A session. Corporate sponsor for this event is Blue Fish Estate Bottled Wines.”

While you may not be able to afford the priceless pieces being auctioned, you should check out www.oceana.org.
