BLOG CABINS

Yesterday, I finished a story for Log Home Design magazine.

After interviewing about a dozen industry experts, I have a new understanding of the difficult decisions folks building a log home must make.

It was a nice change of pace to look at photos with stunning mountain views instead of water ones. Both seemed equally appealing and cool on a day when it was over 100 degrees outside. Although roaring fires in stone fireplaces, like the one in the photo above-- courtesy of Alpine Log Homes, made me reach for the iced tea.

If you are considering building a log home or addition, my best advise to you is to start doing research way before you plan to build or buy. A great place to start your research is www.loghome.com/community/info_center.

Log Home Design (www.loghomedesignmag.com) and its sister publication Log Home Living (www.loghome.com) are definitely the best magazines on the market. Both are filled with stories about gorgeous homes, as well as really practical information (some written by me) and sample floorplans.

We occasionally pick up log home living type magazines. J and I both love the photo you attached in the post. That room is gorgeous. It also gave me an idea about the coffee table at our lake place. I think I'll bring it home next time and paint it white. I've wanted to do that for awhile and this photo helped me decide to just go ahead and do it!

Great post!

Barbara,

This cabin looks so warm and inviting! If only we could all have several homes!
