IT'S FALL (sigh)

For several weeks, whenever I visited one of my favorite blogs and saw pumpkins, I quickly hit the “back arrow”.

I was still in Summer mode. I was not in the mood to be reminded of what was coming. There were still black-eyed Susans and moonflowers galore in my garden. Ripe tomatoes and basil were available for the picking. Fall? No way!

Now, after a few nights of 50 degree temperature, I’ll admit it… Fall is here.

When the Fabulous Fifi posted gourds yesterday, I knew it was time! I know lots of folks love Autumn but I must confess it’s not my favorite season.

While YOU see leaves turning gorgeous colors, I see the end of gardening season.

While YOU see a chance to decorate for Halloween, I see heating bills on the horizon.

Gourds, on the other hand, make me smile.

My friend Bonnie owns a wonderful nursery, Heather Hill Gardens in Fairfax Station, Virginia. I recently snapped photos of her Fall displays, knowing sooner or later, I would give in and admit Fall had arrived.

Oh how I love that checkerboard!
I must admit I adore the Fall...and even Winter. Yes, I am one of those odd balls!

I just posted my first foray into Fall photos and look forward to many more this year! I love all the colors and textures of Fall. Yes, those gourds are fun aren't they?

The blogs listed today are favorites of mine! Beautiful ladies with beautiful homes, spirits and hearts.

I hope your visit with your son has been sweet...

Hugs,
Sue

Barbara, your so funny :)
I feel the exact same way...Until I turned Autumn into " Cozy ". When the thought of high heating bills enters your mind, Light a warm early morning fire like the pioneer women did.. Thats what I did last year around this time and my family came down stairs like it was Christmas morning. The smiles on their faces was priceless...We all had hot oatmeal and toast around the fire to stay warm...
Autumn is a time for apple picking so make a day of it... Some of the farms have hay rides and home made apple cider and donuts...I love coming home from a day of apple picking and baking pies tarts and applesauce.
Now, when January & Febuary rolls around, I say, Lets go to Florida to visit Fifif!!!!

Well... I live in Texas and it's still in the 90's... so I'm still having a hard time admitting it's fall :(

Unlike you, Fall is my favorite season! (but then I live in S. California)

The gourds and pumpkins and mums, they are beautiful, too. And fall is the season to pull out those gardening magazines and books to plan next years garden! (garden girl!)

Thank you for the mention, Barbara! We are expecting cooler temps this week. Maybe it really will start feeling like fall around here.

I also have visions of those heating bills!

Great photos, today, as always!

Hi Barbara, I Sigh too with Fall coming on. We just had rain here, part of the week-end and when the clouds lifted there was new SNOW! I'm not ready for it yet either. That's why I painted my pumpkins PINK.. Not so harsh. LOL Posted pictures on my blog.. Your pictures are beautiful!
