BIRDS AND BLIZZARDS

Yesterday (Friday), about 11 in the morning, I heard a strange swooshing sound.
It was coming from outside. When I looked out the window, the sky was black with birds.

By the time I grabbed my camera, the blizzard of birds was a mere sprinkling.

Exactly 24 hours later, the birds who remained in my yard are tweeting a quieter tune.

The sky is white with snow. It's a blizzard of a different sort.

Belgium is ecstatic! He loves to run, jump, and roll in the snow.

Belgium can't believe that our yard is filled with free ice cream!

What do you mean it's time to come in?

Wow...the birds are awesome. Maybe they love the snow as much as Belgium (which is a very cool name!)

Your snow looks so fluffy! We are having slushy stuff, but that is okay, it's easier to get around in.

Happy holidays, Barbara!! :-)

Barbara, that second to the last picture of Belgium makes him look like he's absolutely smiling! LOL! And dogs do smile. So cute!

And I love the snow scenes. I can't get over all the crows/black birds in your yard. They must have been migrating or something to have that many. If they had white on them, I'd say they might be magpies. Having none, I guess they are crows. ;-)

Happy Holidays to you and yours, including that cute Belgium!

XO,

Sheila :-)

Ah, looks merry at your place with all that snow and a dog frolicking in the yard! Reminded me of a scene from "The Birds." A bit scary, but oh so pretty out there in the countryside. Merry Christmas!

I love all of your photos. Isn't it great when the birds all come in a big flock like that and you hear all the chatter? It's one of my most favorite things to watch. Do you ever wonder like I do who is the leader in that flock and how he got to be leader? Do you ever wonder how they know to turn all together when they are flying and why they do? How do they tell each other "hey, let's all do land in that lady's yard!".???
Happy Holidays, Sue

Love it. The birds look like starlings from what I can see. And, Belgium is just so cute. My Jackie would have loved the snow!
