TUNDRA TUESDAY

I truly believe it's all Belgium's fault.

He said he was dreaming of a white birthday but I don't think he had THIS much snow in mind.

It started snowing on Friday and by Saturday evening, we were blanketed with about 26 inches.

It's been a rough ride -- no power, no internet or phone, and eight chickens without a heat lamp.

If the power didn't come back (which fortunately it did), I planned to bring the chickens inside to spend the night in a corner of the garage.

Once the sun goes down hens are docile and can be easily picked up and carried indoors.

Of course, the tricky part is getting them back to their coop when they are awake and frisky in the morning.
They can't walk in deep snow very well, so I can’t just push them out the door and point them in the right direction.

Since we were planning a party on Sunday for Belgium's birthday, I stocked up on groceries.

It's a good thing, because we probably won't get out for another 3 or 4 days (more snow is on the way this afternoon.)

Belgium was sad that our guests couldn't come, but he celebrated in style and hung out with the chickens.

On Monday, our lawn mowing crew showed up with a plow. The plow promptly got stuck on our hill and it took hours to get it out and moving again.

It really is beautiful however. See for yourself.
Belgium says, "Enjoy the slide show and stay warm."

Hi Barbara,

I can't believe how much snow everyone is getting. We only have about an inch left that hasn't melted. I love snow and keep hoping that it will come our way, but alas, it hasn't yet.

The weatherman said snow for today, once again the sun is shining bright. Of course, once summer comes we will be lucky to see the sun. Last summer was rain and clouds all season!

Keep warm and toasty and chill out!

Really love the slide show... simply gorgeous.... we were hit wih somewhere around 24 inches total with all the storms... and more is expected Monday?!!

Belgium looks like he is having a blast even though no one could come to his party ...

There is something so peaceful about the snow... you dont hear the cars... traffic... all is quiet... I love it...

Stay warm ... keep the chickens warm and enjoy the snow days while you can... soon it will be back to hustle and bustle and stress OH MY!!

Hi Barbara, now at least I know whose fault all this snow is. Your sweet doggie looks so innocent to, I would never guess he is responsible. Hope you are surviving winter ok. I'm personally looking forward to spring.

Ok so I had snow.... waaaay tooo much and was close but not quite to the epic proportions that your was ... we had anywhere from 18 - 20 inches the first one and then had about 6 on top of that ...

Looks like Belgium is having a grand time ... sad he wasnt able to play with the other kiddies but looks as if he made up for it and enjoyed all the same...

Please dont have the wind blowing down this way anymore so we dont get the leftover snow from your backyard hehe...

Looking forward to some green grass and flowers

LOTS OF HUGS

How pretty everything looks! We are supposed to get more snow this week! My chickens come out when there is snow but stay very close to their coop:)And my dog can't eat enough snow, she just loves it and she is not very tall. I hope Spring comes in full force so we can get out into our gardens:)

Well we have had more snow this year and for so much longer than I remember before in this part of the world but your 26 inches makes our looks nothing.

Looks beautiful though and I loved the Smilebox pictures.

oh what a great picture! how true is it that images evoke memory, deep, visceral, memory. the snowy climate i grew up in, the dog that i loved...although i'm happy to be at the beach these days, nary a snowflake (but a bitter winter nonetheless), your blog brings it all back. not such a bad thing. makes for such a pretty scene.

Your sweet doggie's photo gave me the smile I so needed tonight!
: )
And snow it has here...and snowed and snowed. Then it snowed again.
So i went to Florida and played on the beach. It seemed like the only sensible thing to do.
*smirk*
Not that I am usually sensible. : )
Love,
Sue
